BMW 5 Series GT official interior pics

p90045931.jpg After a well-orchestrated “first glimpse” campaign, we’re finally seeing the first official press shots of the decadently luxurious interior in BMW’s new 5 Series GT come off of embargo today. While I’m not a big fan of the leather’s color in these photographs (too close to the eggshell walls of the first apartment in college), I’m definitely digging the sumptuous looking seats and the open feel of the cockpit. Obviously the dual moonroof helps keep the area feeling open, so it’s a good thing it’s a standard feature on the car. In addition, legroom is reported to be on par with that of the 7 Series Sedan. Luxury indeed, now where do I pick up a chauffeur?!

Even if I had the coin for services like that, I’d be almost reluctant to let the lucky bastard drive the car… The actual GT cockpit is the best seat in the house! The Black Panel display is pure class, with four classic round gauges providing the bulk of the immediate data, while additional info is communicated through accent lighting. Partner this with v4 of the once-hated iDrive, and we’re off to the races. Of course we haven’t seen it in action yet, but it definitely has the potential for a rewarding “driver interface” experience.

When it comes to material choices, there won’t be much to worry about… several kinds of leather are available, with Dakota being the baseline (available in six colors). Wood trim choices come in Dark Burl Ash as standard, with Ash Anthracite and Fineline Matte both optional.
