Reports are trickling in of lucky European citizens who are taking delivery of Alpina’s new diesel coupe, the D3 Bi-Turbo. Over on E90Post one of their users, harpalb, just got his car and even then managed to peel himself out of the driver’s seat to post some initial observations and photos.

Apparently the D3 offers quite an impressive level of finish, coupled with some serious performance numbers out of the worked over engine. Even more astounding is that over the course of harpalb’s first 660 miles he managed to average 40.9mpg (and no, we don’t doubt for a second that he truly put his foot in it – wouldn’t you?!).

Based on his comments, it sure sounds like the new Alpina is one refined machine. The engine is “much smoother than the monoturbo, more frugal and cleaner. Very refined in comparison to all other 4 cylinder diesels out there. Race exhaust makes the car sound nicer too,” the Steptronic “out of the B3, quick and ever so smooth. Much better than in the e9x,” while the “black headlining does make the interior much darker than needs be with the black leather and black piano gloss, but having a sunroof negates the darkness.”

Who’s starting the “Bring this thing to the US” petition?!
