AC Schnitzer releases new 22″ Type 5 rim
Saturday, 03. 14. 2009 – Category: Aftermarket News, Main
Aachen-based tuner AC Schnitzer recently launched a good looking rim for those BMW drivers who like them BIG. Sized at an impressive 22″ diameter, this wheel targets X5, X6 and F01/F02 7-Series owners. However, even with the large diameter, the new Type V rim in 9.5″ width weighs in at a measly 13.2kg, or just a hair over 29 pounds. Color us impressed!
Official press release:
Wheels create more than just a physical connection with the road – it’s visual too. “So the right proportion of wheels to bodywork is extremely important“, explains AC Schnitzer Chief Designer Michele Viandante. “If the wheels are too small, the car soon starts to look leggy and unstable“. The AC Schnitzer forged alloy rims Type V however give a really connected impression: with an external diameter of 22 inches – that’s over half a
metre – they provide the necessary visual ground adhesion and fill the wheelarches even on XXL size vehicles like the new 7-series (F01/F02), the X5 (E70) and the X6 (E71).
The one-piece forged alloys Type V in BiColor Finish reflect their high performance genes from AC Schnitzer in their construction and display this externally: the central element is the delicate but solid-looking spoke matrix with its five triangular webs. The deeply dished centre, and the spokes appearing to rush into it, emphasises the uncompromising dynamic impression. And the front wheels weigh just 13.2 kg each!
The new Type V forged alloys will shortly be available in the following sizes for the vehicles listed:
Vehicles: BMW X5 (E70), X6 (E71) and 7-series (F01/ F02)
Wheel type: Forged alloy Type V
Wheel design: one-piece
Manufacture: Forged with milled centre, drawn outer bed
Sizes: 9.5J x 22 inch
10.0J x 22 inch
11.5J x 22 inch
